I may be in a cave with dirt walls lit only by torchlight, but in that cave I've got a little farm growing lovely, chunky vegetables and a cooking pot where I can combine them for yummy meals. I've built bridges over dark, bottomless chasms and slashed through chambers filled with wriggling larvae only to find the perfect serene fishing spot in a underground pond.

Bigger jumps, no gravity, faster running, a dash, a grappling hook, unique weapons etc. Even when these items don't offer a mechanical change, they often combine with other items that do, leading to a more enjoyable exploration and feeling of progression. It is this sense of progression that makes up for the fact that it has a similar mining system to core keeper's. But no such equivalent exists for core keeper, and it is disappointing to unlock the next tier of pickaxe when the only thing you're looking forward to is .... the next tier of pickaxe.

Not only that, but if you really start branching out, it might be a good idea to make smaller bases outside of your main base with beds of their own. That way you can quickly recharge when you’re far from home, and give yourself another respawn point should you run into trouble.

It’s also a good idea to take the time and fully clear out areas, so the light can actually reach all the dim corners and not get cut off by random chunks of wall.

Aside from the cosmetics, you'll also have to pick your "Background" which is an initial set of starting skills and equipment. None of these bonuses are truly exclusive and you can eventually earn everything from all of the other Backgrounds.

1. Combat exp gain - It works the same as in Skyrim, so each hit gives 1 exp, and this system was flowed in that game as it is in this game. The game punishes the player for playing with slower weapons that deal more damage, and also punishes them for just getting stronger, which is bizzare. This system also makes some classes way less enjoyable to play than others, where Ranged can easily get to max level as they get massive amounts of exp from souls and just their weapons being quite fast, meanwhile a class like Magic is absolutely shafted as they have very slow attacks that deal a lot of damage, while also requiring the use of mana to even be able to deal the damage.

The issues outlined here are some of the more impactful bugs we’ve had reported, and we feel it’s important that you know we’re working on these. The third boss is a ridiculous jump in difficulty, though after crafting some life, defensive and offensive potions, he went down easily as well. None of these bosses felt particularly interesting to fight, rewarding to beat, or worth refighting (the game allows you to for additional loot, but i found the loot to not be worth the time spent).

If you like games in this genre, Core Keeper Gameplay then you'll love it, and even if you don't like games in this genre, this could be the one that converts you.

Don’t be in a huge rush to unlock all the crafting resources immediately, though, since you can get a lot done by starting simply.
